 8NEWS StormTracker Weather

Good Morning! We are watching Hurricane Earl very closely this morning, as it underwent some strengthening last night. As of 5am, Hurricane Earl is a category 4 having winds of 145 mph. We expect that this storm will pass within 50miles of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina after midnight tonight. Here is your forecast: Today, sunny skies and a hot day with highs near 90. However, we will begin to see high clouds stream in from the south and east later this afternoon and evening. Tonight, cloudy skies for everyone east of I-95, west of I-95 we expect partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies. Rain will develop later tonight for all areas east of I-95 and the winds will pick up for our coastal communities. We expect winds will range from 25 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 for the coastal communities by the morning on Friday. However, residents along I-95 and points west will only have light winds, ranging from 5 to 15 miles per hour. During Friday, Earl will move away and the sunshine will return. Friday will be a hot day with highs in the middle 90s. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be delightful with sunshine and highs in the middle 80s.
