WRIC Richmond News and Weather - Shockoe Ballpark Proposal Dead

A spokesperson for Highwoods Properties confirmed Tuesday that a proposal for a development and baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom is dead.
The development group is walking away from the Shockoe Bottom proposal, as well as a proposal to develop the current Boulevard stadium site.
A statement from the development group, released Tuesday, read: "Our team has made the difficult decision to suspend our involvement in the Shockoe Bottom/Main Street Station and the Boulevard projects. We have carried these projects as far as our collaborative team can under the present circumstances.
"The City will need to negotiate directly with any new team owner on such issues as location, timing and financing of a new ballpark."
