Richmond's new minor league baseball team finally has a name: the Flying Squirrels.
Public voting ended earlier this week. Fans had the chance to pick from Flatheads, Rhinos, Rock Hoppers, Flying Squirrels and Hush Puppies. A sixth choice, Hambones, was taken out of the running after it was revealed as possibly offensive to African-Americans.
Local fans have had a wide range of responses to the chosen name possibilities. Many fans 8News spoke with seemed to dislike all of the choices.
More than 5,400 cast their vote online.
