A Richmond man accused in the death of a toddler in his care was found guilty in a Richmond court Friday.
Keishawn Whitfield was accused of leaving toddler Andrew Johnson in a daycare van for several hours in July. Johnson died from environmental heat exposure, according to the medical examiner.
Whitfield was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect.
Whitfield's mother, Valerot Whitlow, testified during the bench trial Friday. Whitfield worked for Whitlow at the Yellow Brick Road Day Care & Learning Center, which has since been shut down. Whitlow is also facing felony child neglect charges in Johnson's death.
Whitfield remains out on bond until his sentencing in January.
