ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Metro says two train technicians have died after they were hit by a maintenance vehicle along a track in Rockville.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia says both workers were on a track when they were hit around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday a few blocks from the Rockville Metro Station.
Officials say one worker died at the scene and the second was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates says the accident involved a large truck equipped to drive on the track when electricity is shut down. She says both men were automatic train control technicians.
Their names haven't been released.
Red Line service will be shut down between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations while the accident is investigated. Shuttles are being provided.
