Friends, Family Mourn Slain Richmond Woman

More than 200 people showed up to remember slain Richmond mother Tameka Claiborne in Chesterfield Monday night, just hours after police arrested a second person in connection with her murder.

Richmond Police announced Monday the arrest of 32-year-old Alphonzo Richardson as a second suspect in connection with the disappearance and death of Claiborne.

Richardson is charged with felony unlawful disposal of a body and misdemeanor accessory after the fact to murder. He is in the Richmond City Jail pending an upcoming court hearing.

Michael Solomon, the lead suspect in Claiborne's death, was arraigned Monday morning for the alleged abduction of Claiborne's son, who was found abandoned last week in Chesterfield.

Claiborne's body was later discovered in the James River in Charles City County.

In addition to the abduction charge, Solomon is facing weapons charges and failure to pay child support.

Solomon's car, sought after by police in connection with Claiborne's disappearance and death, was found in Hopewell Saturday. Additional charges are possible against Solomon.

"It just doesn't make sense that somebody would do something like that to someone everyone loves," said friend of Claiborne's, Stephanie Carter.

"It's tragic. I lost a best friend, a sister. It's sad and I'm gonna miss her."
