Police Investigate Meth Lab In Chesterfield

Joshua A. Rhodes, 31, of Valrico, Fl was charged with one count of manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamines) which is a Felony. He was held without bond in the Chesterfield County Jail.

Release from the Virginia State Police:

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. this morning, Trooper S. D. Holland was flagged down by a citizen in the 2400 block of West Hundred Road in Chesterfield County. The citizen advised Trooper Holland of suspicious activity in the area and provided suspect information. After obtaining the suspect information, the trooper spotted the subject getting into a vehicle. Upon noticing that the license plates were expired, a traffic stop was initiated. Based on information received from the suspect and after an affidavit for search warrant was obtained, a search of the suspect's room was conducted.

Six rooms were evacuated as a precautionary measure and no injuries were reported. A hazardous materials unit is on scene to assist with clean up of hazardous chemicals relating to a meth lab operation. The Chesterfield County Fire Department was on scene to assist with neutralizing and decontaminating the chemicals.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of special agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Richmond Field Office, the Central Virginia Regional Narcotics Task Force, Drug Enforcement Agency and Chesterfield County Police Department.
