A Newport News Waterworks employee was killed Friday morning after his pick-up truck was hit by an Amtrak train in New Kent County.
Amtrak officials tell 8News that 122 passengers were on board the train at the time of the accident which occurred around 11:13am. There were no injuries to the crew or passengers on board the train. The train suffered air damage and mechanics are trying to fix the train.
All train passengers have been off-loaded onto charter buses.
The victim died at the scene.
The accident occurred near the corner of Outpost Road and State Route 649, Rockahock Road.
