Richmond Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

UPDATE from the Richmond Police Department:

The man who robbed the Union First Market Bank in Carytown Tuesday has been arrested.

Ashby Ryan Hare, 33, 3600 block of Sandpiper Road, Virginia Beach, VA, was taken into custody last night by Virginia Beach Police. Officers arrested Hare without incident in a room in a beachfront hotel in Virginia Beach.

Hare has been served with a warrant for the Carytown bank robbery. He has also been charged with robbing two banks in Virginia Beach.

Hare was identified thanks to a tip called in to Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers shortly after surveillance photos and video were shown by local media.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5th, Hare entered the Union First Market Bank at 3556 W. Cary St. He passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed. Hare took the money provided by the teller and left the bank.


 

 

UPDATE from Richmond Police Department: 

The Richmond Police Department needs the public's help identifying the man who robbed a Union First Market Bank today in Carytown.

Shortly after 11 a.m., April 5th, the suspect entered the Union First Market Bank at 3556 W. Cary St. He passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed. The suspect took the money provided by the teller and left the bank.

Information was obtained that led police to a location in Henrico County. With assistance from the Henrico County Police Department and the Virginia State Police, officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is a white male, 25-35 years of age, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 180 to 190 pounds with sandy-colored light brown hair. The suspect wore a white or cream colored shirt with a button-down collar and a white tee-shirt underneath.

Two surveillance photos and one surveillance video are attached to this advisory.

Anyone with information about the suspect wanted in this commercial robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word "ITip" followed by your tip. Both methods to provide tips are anonymous.


 

 

Richmond, Henrico and State Police are all searching for suspects after a Richmond bank was robbed Tuesday morning.

Police said the First Market Bank in the 3500 block of West Cary Street was robbed at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

As of 2:35 p.m., Police still have not released any suspect or suspect vehicle description.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.

Meanwhile, a large police presence was reported near the Colonial Village at Chase Gayton apartments near the intersection of Gaskins and Gayton Roads in Henrico County's west end. Police  confirmed they were at that location looking for a car matching the description of one seen leaving the scene of the robbery. Police still have not released that car's description.

Because of the police presence there, three nearby schools (Pinchbeck and Pemberton Elementary and Byrd Middle School) were briefly placed on lockdown. That lockdown has since been lifted.
