BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia Tech has given football coach Frank Beamer a two-year contract extension. Athletic director Whit Babcock announced the extension on Wednesday, which will keep the winningest active coach at the Division I level on the Hokies' sideline through Jan. 1, 2019.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Justin Tucker hit five field goals and the Baltimore Ravens wrapped up a perfect preseason with a 22-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night. Baltimore found the end zone only once on Tyrod Taylor's 8-yard pass to Deonte Thompson, but that was enough against the Saints.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A coalition wants the NFL team from Washington barred from using its "Redskins" name on University of Minnesota turf. The Star Tribune reports the group held a news conference Thursday outside TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The Vikings are leasing the university's stadium for two seasons while their new stadium is built.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green is donating $1 million to Georgetown's new athletic center. The university announced the gift from the former Hoyas star on Thursday, Green's 28th birthday. He helped lead Georgetown to the Final Four in 2007 and was the No. 5 overall pick in the NBA draft that year.
