A man who worked as a medical technician at McGuire V A Hospital in Richmond is charged with over two dozen counts of sexually abusing and assaulting three teenage boys at McGuire. An indictment attained by 8 News charges Theodore Hodson III with 27 counts of sexually abusing and assaulting three teenage boys under the age of 16. According to the indictment, the abuse happened between July and October 2004, at McGuire V A Hospital, where Hodson was employed as a bone density technician.
Federal prosecutors say Hodson lured the victims to the hospital on the pretense that he was conducting medical research. While at the hospital, the indictment says Hodson engaged in numerous explicit sexual acts with them, as well as performing several inappropriate and unnecessary tests, including nude body scans and rectal examinations.
The indictment says Hodson often paid the children for their participation in the study he claimed to be conducting. In all, Hodson faces 49 counts including sexual abuse, assault, and practicing medicine without a license. A spokesperson for the hospital tells 8 News McGuire's mission is to treat eligible veterans. At this time, the hospital can not comment on Hodson's employment status.
