Richmond Police say they are looking for Daniel Andrew Bowler in connection with last night's homicides, but they are no longer calling it a hate crime. They say it was retaliation.
Police say just before 7pm last night, Bowler shot and killed a man in Hillside Court. The victim, 29-year-old Derrick Conner, was pronounced dead at VCU Medical Center.
Moments later, in a strip mall on Broad Rock Boulevard, investigators say Bowler walked into James Food Market and after uttering a racial slur, fatally shot the clerk, Abdulrahman Aldhabhani.
Police say Bowler then ran two doors down to Poly Cleaners where he fatally shot another clerk, Jong Doh, again after some type of racial slur.
Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, 260 pounds with braids and tear drop tattoos on his face and other tattoos on his arms. He was last seen driving a dark blue Lincoln with temporary 30-day tags, with a license plate Z959703. He was wearing a white tee shirt, blue jeans and a gold medallion around his neck.
Richmond Police Chief Rodney Monroe says they are still looking for help from the public. He says they have received hundreds of tips, some of which have provided very valuable information.
Anyone with information is asked to call 514-TIPS (514-8477).
