Broadcast/ IT Engineer
Seeking qualified broadcast engineer/IT person. Must have experience and/or thorough working knowledge of IT systems and operations plus good knowledge of broadcast systems. Technical Media Operator (Full Time)
Seeking qualified television operations person. Must have experience and/or thorough working knowledge of Ross OverDrive, Crispin Rapid Play X Automation, Yamaha Audio Boards, and station operations within FCC Regulations. WRIC 8 News is looking for an aggressive and resourceful Investigative Reporter who wants to make a difference in the community we serve. The ideal candidate is a hungry journalist who is willing to chase down resources and make dozens of calls in an effort to get to the one person they need for the story. This person will produce relevant investigative stories that support the station's brand using an interview style that holds officials accountable, undercover techniques, powerful writing, and the ability to use data and graphics in a compelling way. Knowledge of the FOIA process, computer-assisted reporting, data-driven reporting and legal issues related to investigative television news reporting are required. Ability to produce under tight deadlines day-of sidebar stories that provide deeper context to the day's big news is critical. In addition, this person must possess the ability to work cooperatively with management and legal teams to ensure that all investigative stories meet legal, editorial and ethical standards. Applicants must be a passionate great storytelling, strong writer and interviewer with a keen news sense, research skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, time management skills and knowledge of privacy and libel/slander laws. Deadline for Fall internships: July 10th.
Deadline for Spring internships: November 28th.
Deadline for Summer internships: April 4th.
The following is needed for internship consideration:
--One-page paper, double-spaced explaining why the student wants this internship and what they hope to learn. Include the department/career of interest such as news (producing, photography, reporting), production, sports, graphics, weather; and specify the semester needed (Fall, Spring or Summer).
--Confirmation email from an advisor, dean or registrar's office saying the internship is needed for the student's grade/course. Include how many credit hours are needed. (This varies with each student and school.)
**Without all three documents, student will not be considered for an internship**
