A benefit concert for missing VCU student Taylor Behl was held Sunday in her hometown of Vienna. The money raised will go toward a reward fund of more than $14,000.
Friends, family, and concerned strangers gathered Sunday afternoon at Jammin Java, a café and concert venue in Vienna. Three different bands donated their time for the show.
This week marks one month since the 17-year-old seemingly vanished from the VCU campus. New leads in the police investigation are waning but hope for Taylor's safe return remains strong.
"Until we know anything for sure we're going to hang on."
Behl's mother, Janet Pelasara, recently returned home to Vienna after spending weeks in Richmond spearheading the search for her daughter. Pelasara spoke to reporter's at this afternoon's concert, saying she appreciates the outpouring of concern for Taylor.
"When someone comes up and says we're praying for you I'm grateful, saying I can't thank you enough."
In addition to raising money for the reward fund, organizers want the concert to sustain public awareness of Taylor's case.
"She's missed very much by a lot of people and this is showing exactly that."
