Body Found

Richmond Police are investigating if a body found in Mathews County Wednesday afternoon is that of missing 17-year-old VCU freshman, Taylor Behl.

On Wednesday, police in Mathews County found what they describe as a "badly decomposed body" behind a barn at a rural farm in that county.

Eight news has learned along with the body police found clothing that matches the description of the outfit Taylor Behl was last seen wearing September 5th.

According to law enforcement sources, a witness recognized the farm in a photo seized from photographer Ben Fawley's apartment.  Richmond Police Chief Colonel Rodney Monroe would not comment on that photo. Sources close to the investigation tell 8news the property belongs to parents of an ex-girlfriend of Ben Fawley.

Nearby residents tell us they're shocked to watch their quiet community become the center of the investigation into Taylor's disappearance. Richmond Police say they are investigating to determine if the remains they found buried in a shallow grave are those of Taylor Behl. They say they don't know how long the remains have been there and at this point can not positively identify them.

"At this time we do not, I repeat, we do not know who the remains belong to," Monroe said.

Confirming who those remains belong to could take several days. A task force made up of the FBI, Virginia State Police, Richmond and VCU police have focused their investigation on the piece of property where those remains were located. Police continued searching until nightfall in an effort to make sure every inch of that property was combed for every possible clue.

"It's a very large scene its going to take quite a while for that scene to get processed very meticulously because we don't know how wide the actual scene exists"
