Police Shooting

45 year old James Singleton is facing attempted armed robbery charges after his actions led to an officer involved shooting Monday night.

Police found he was armed with a BB gun resembling a  real pistol, while attempting to rob a Family Dollar store on Creighton Road.

He forced employees back into the store as they were leaving, police tell us that's when Officer Chester Roberts shot Singleton inside the store striking him in the arm and leg. The officers were dressed in plain clothing working under cover at the previously robbed store.

Even a gunshot wound to the leg didn't stop the suspect who was determined to get away, he fled along side the building but was captured by police right away.

Police are now  investigating whether or not Singleton could be involved in several other robberies in the East end. According to court records, he was released from prison in July of last year. Officer Roberts, a 23 year veteran of the force is now on paid administrative leave while the incident is being investigated.
