Richmond Fire and Police units are investigating after a body was found during a small fire in a Richmond apartment early Thursday.

According to fire officials, crews responded to an apartment building fire on Franklin Street near Belvidere around 2 a.m. Thursday. Crews on scene put out a small fire contained to one room, where a body was also found.

Richmond detectives have ruled the death as a homicide. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

None of the other apartment building residents are displaced by the fire.
