Teen Guilty In Fatal New Year's Crash

A Henrico County teenager accused in a fatal New Year's Day accident was convicted of involuntary manslaughter Thursday.

Sarah Haislip, 16, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, a charge reduced from the original charge of aggravated involuntary manslaughter. Haislip was also convicted of drunk driving and underage possession of alcohol.

Haislip was behind the wheel of the car that struck Applebee's bartender Wes Taylor's vehicle in front of Short Pump Town Center, killing him. Taylor's family told 8News they were eager for this ordeal to be over.

"I think with everything being extended out ... I think they just want to get it finished," said Billy Eudailey, Taylor's uncle.

Next week, a judge is expected to decide whether or not to revoke Haislip's bond before sentencing in October. Stay with 8News for updates.
