Goochland authorities arrested a man Friday suspected of raping a fifteen-year-old girl.

The suspect, Craig Ferguson, is believed to have established a relationship with the teen through volunteer activities. Ferguson was a volunteer with Goochland Fire and Rescue, and worked as a child protective services employee with the City of Richmond. City officials confirmed Ferguson has been suspended without pay.

The investigation was launched after the victim's family contacted Goochland authorities in an attempt to verify Ferguson's status as a member of Goochland Fire and Rescue.

The suspect is being held without bond in the Henrico County Jail. A bond hearing for Ferguson will be held Monday. Stay with 8 News for updates.
