FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Barack Obama's campaign envisions a path to the presidency that could include Virginia, Georgia and several Rocky Mountain states.
But Obama campaign manager David Plouffe says Obama's electoral map doesn't necessarily include Florida and Ohio -- battlegrounds that decided the last two elections.
Plouffe says the campaign doesn't want to rely on one state.
A win in Virginia or Georgia could give Obama a shot if he loses Ohio or Florida.
Florida has 27 electoral votes and Ohio has 20. Virginia has 13 votes, while Georgia has 15. Obama's campaign has spent heavily on time and money in Virginia, where a Democratic presidential candidate hasn't won since 1964.
Plouffe told supporters last week that the key in Virginia will be to register new black voters and new young voters.
