All but a couple hundred of customers are out of the dark after more than 11,000 Virginia Dominion Power customers were without power Wednesday afternoon.
The power outage was sparked by a malfunctioning transformer. According to Dominion officials, the transformer went down just before noon near the ACCA rail yard in the west end.
At noon, the total number of outages was more than 11,000. That number was down to 239 by 2:15 p.m.
Businesses, offices and restaurants, including some in the Carytown area, were without power for more than two hours. City Hall and the DMV on West Broad Street were also affected.
