Residents of a Mechanicsville neighborhood no longer have to boil their water after a water main break caused a potential supply contamination.

Hanover Public Utilities officials advised residents of the Battlefield Green neighborhood that tests came back negative on the local water source. Officials had feared possible contamination after a water main break on Old Cavalry Drive Monday.

Residents had to boil their drinking water for about 48 hours as crews tested the water.
