At least 19 people suffered minor injuries in a Richmond apartment fire in the 1300 block of Coalter Street Wednesday.

Fire officials arrived on scene just after 8:30 a.m. with heavy flames showing from a basement apartment building.

Initial reports said there may be people still trapped in the building. Crews searched the structure, but everyone was able to escape.

Fire officials said 19 people were treated on scene, including nine victims that were transported to the hospital.

There is no word what started the fire.
