WRIC Richmond News and Weather - Teen Sentenced In Matko Murder Case

A Chesterfield County judge has sentenced Detavis King to more than 50 years in prison for the murder of Chesterfield teen Ryan Matko.
King was sentenced Thursday to 100 years for Matko's murder and 3 years for firearms charges. 50 years of the sentence were suspended.
King was convicted last year of murdering Matko in 2007. King's attorney had petitioned to have the case re-tried, but that motion was denied.
Both King and Matko were 16 at the time of the 2007 shooting, which stemmed from a drug deal, according to prosecutors. A jury convicted King last August.
