CAROLINE CO. – A Milford woman is dead following a motor vehicle crash in Caroline County that took place early Saturday morning (March 20, 2010). At 3:11 a.m., Virginia State Police Senior Trooper S. T. Melson was called to the scene on Route 301, Richmond Turnpike, approximately 3/10 of a mile south of Route 648, Sunshine Road.
A 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound when the driver ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, Elisabeth L. Kearse, 37, of Milford, was flown to Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital where she later died. Two 11-year-olds, who were both seated in the backseat, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash. One of the 11-year-olds was also flown and the other transported by ambulance to Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital. All three were not wearing their safety belts.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
