WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Virginia and other states along the Atlantic are bracing for Tropical Storm Hanna.
Tropical storm watches or warnings are in effect today from Altamaha Sound in Georgia to Sandy Hook, New Jersey.
Forecasters say Hanna could still become a hurricane before its expected arrival on U.S. shores.
As of 5 a.m. today, Hanna had maximum sustained winds near 65 mph and was centered about 430 miles south of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Rain and wind from Hanna could start as early as tonight in the South.
Disaster planners also are keeping an eye on Hurricane Ike. Ike weakened to a Category 3 storm early today but the National Hurricane Center says it's still a dangerous hurricane.
