Adults-only event coming to Science Museum of Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - The Science Museum of Virginia is working to bring in more patrons than just kids and field trips.

So, for one night next week their rule will be, "no kids allowed!"

'Science on Tap: Animals Unleashed' is a new 21-and-over programming series.

Its meant to bridge the gap for science lovers later in life -- and the museum wants adults of all ages to know they're welcome to have some fun.

"We're opening our doors to facilitate just that." said Dr. Jeremy Hoffman, a Climate and Earth Scientist at the Museum.

"Really engage this age group that might not have an opportunity to interact with our exhibits on a day-to-day basis, in a place where they can feel like they're in 8th grade again, with people their age, and a beer in their hand."

There will be exhibits including a talk about wild animal mating behavior, a sheep heart dissection, and an animal meet and greet to name a few.

Food, beer, and cocktails will be available for purchase.

The first 'Science on Tap' is Thursday, June 14th from 6-10 p.m.

All attendees must be 21 or older to get inside the building.

More info about tickets and the exhibits can be found here.

The Science Museum tells 8News this series will happen quarterly.
