Tree falls into Chesterfield home, narrowly misses toddler

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Sunday night's storms caused a tree to uproot and crash into a Chesterfield County home.

None of the seven people who live in the home located in the Shenandoah Hills Subdivision were injured, but the family told 8News reporter Talya Cunningham that the tree narrowly missed a 3-year-old boy.

The family said the boy had just walked down their steps when the tree fell and one of the branches punched through the roof, just missing the toddler.

There is significant damage to the home. The front windows are shattered, drywall is hanging from the home and there is a large hole in the roof.

The family does have homeowners insurance and is currently waiting on estimates.

They say they've lived in the home for 17 years.
