13-year-old behind the wheel in fatal Ohio crash

NEW CARLISLE, Ohio (WDTN) -- A 13-year-old girl was killed after crashing a minivan in Ohio on Thursday, according to 8News affiliate WTDN

Authorities said Friday the teen, who has been identified as 13-year-old Sky Lhamon, was alone in the minivan when she crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming semi-truck.

The semi tried but was unable to avoid the collision, striking the minivan head-on, officials added.

The Shelby County Department of Job and Family Service said Lhamon was a foster child.

According to a release, the Ohio State Highway Patrol notified the agency that Lhamon had taken her foster mother's van and left.

It is unclear if the driver of the semi was injured in the crash.
