A new pediatric urgent care clinic is open for business in the West End.
KidMed opened its doors in February. It is located on Pouncey Tract Road and is open after hours and on the weekends, the times when doctors say patients and their parents often need them the most.
Jack is being a good sport during his exam- this is one clinic specializing in patients just like him.
KidMed is the brainchild of three doctors with 13 years of pediatric emergency room experience.
"We ust really felt there was a better way to take care of them," said Doctor Mark Flanzenbaum.
The KidMed doctors say everything here is tailor-made for children, from equipment to their bedside manner.
They can do x-rays and there is a pharmacy on site, allowing them to treat a wide-range of issues.
"Everything from minor stuff, earaches, sore throats, to kids who need iv fluids, procedures with sedation, laceration repair, fracture repair," says Flanzenbaum.
More than 1,700 young patients have been treated here since February, and with such a response, there is already talk of a South Side clinic.
