A Henrico babysitter has been charged with felony child abuse after one of the children she was watching turned up with a broken arm. Police say Margaret Jenkins is facing one count of felony child abuse, involving an 18-month old boy she babysits at her Sandston home.
The incident occured back in February. The child's parents took the boy to the Emergency Room after noticing he was favoring his arm. The doctor and a forensic nurse realized the type of injury he had suffered was not a typical injury. The injury was more of a twisting motion that broke the bone, which would be consistent with someone picking up a child by their arm in a forceful manner.
Police say the boy injured is one of at least three children Jenkins babysits.
Child Protective Services is also investigating the case.
