I was actually a little surprised (pleasantly!) by my weigh-in today; after a week on vacation in Hong Kong eating pretty much what I wanted, I only gained three pounds.
I was generally pleased with how I dealt with being on vacation. I indulged but, for the most part, didn't go overboard. I went into it expecting to gain a little and definitely feel like I kept things under control. I also exercised, which I was very proud of myself for!
But now vacation is over and I'm four pounds behind my goal of losing one pound per week until my birthday. So I did the only thing I could think of that I knew would get me back on track – and that, honestly, I should have done months ago – I rejoined, and recommitted to, Weight Watchers.
I've been stuck and frustrated for awhile now, and it was really interesting what a relief it was for me to sign on to the Weight Watchers site and track Points again. It felt comfortable and I felt in control. And while I'm sure that after a few months, I'll get antsy to try other things and shake it up again, right now, I think comfortable is doable. And I really believe that will translate into good results.
For me, right now, I think it's important to do what I know works. I've kind of played around with other things and tried different plans (and I definitely intend to do more of that in the near future), but I need a kick start and I need something that feels almost second-nature to me to get my momentum going again.
It's hard writing about this because I feel like I've been saying these things over and over in different ways while sort of waffling about how to move forward. But the bottom line is that this is really hard and sometimes it takes some false starts to get going again.
