LORTON, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal tractor-trailer crash that has closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Lorton.
Spokeswoman Corinne Geller says the tractor-trailer rear-ended a Virginia Department of Transportation truck that was parked in a work zone about 2:15 a.m. Monday. Geller says the impact caused the tractor-trailer to catch fire, killing the driver.
She says no one was in the VDOT truck at the time, but a worker suffered minor injuries when he jumped over a jersey wall to avoid the crash.
Geller says the main northbound lanes of I-95 are being directed onto Route 1 at the Lorton exit. She says the HOV lanes are open, and HOV restrictions have been lifted to alleviate traffic delays.
