Virginia Man Sentenced In Gang Slayings

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - A Newport News man has been sentenced to six life sentences plus 60 years in prison for killing two people as part of gang activities.

A federal judge in Newport News on Thursday sentenced 26-year-old Perry Cousins in the murders of 20-year-old Rashed Caudle in August 2003 and 24-year-old Lorenzo Thomas in September 2005.

Federal prosecutors say Cousins was a key member of an enterprise consisting of three gangs that used violence and intimidation to control Newport News neighborhoods.
