Tornado Brush Drop Off Established In New Kent

Press release from New Kent County:

NEW KENT VIRGINIA, OCTOBER 21, 2011 – Residents who were impacted by the tornado on Oct. 13 may bring storm debris of any size to the county's main refuse site at Route 618/Olivet Church Road through Sunday, Nov. 20.

No other refuse site will accept debris and the County has now shut down the temporary brush drop-off located at the intersections of Route 106/Vineyards Parkway and Route 249/New Kent Highway. The Route 618 site is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

The county does not have the ability to pick up storm debris from the tornado so any brush that residents have should be taken to the main refuse site. Residents should be advised that no debris will be accepted from commercial vendors, even if they are working on your behalf - this site is solely for residents cleaning up their own debris.

Any contractor that you are paying to cut up and haul away debris should have a location to dispose of said debris.

Please check with the General Services Department at 966-8514 for further information or if you have questions concerning storm debris drop-off.
