UPDATE: One Charged In Fatal Chesterfield Crash

UPDATE from Chesterfield Police: Chesterfield County Police have arrested the driver of the vehicle involved in a fatal crash that occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, in the 9700 block of West Providence Road.

Police said a 2000 Ford Taurus was traveling west on West Providence Road when the driver, Erick A. Munoz, ran off the right side of the road.  The vehicle entered the ditch line, struck several mail boxes and flipped multiple times before coming to rest. 

A 17-year-old male passenger, Luis M. Mendez, was ejected from the vehicle and was found dead at the scene.  Munoz, 18, of the 1300 block of Suburban Village Circle, was arrested and charged with felony hit and run, grand larceny and driving without a license. Police continue their investigation into this crash.


Chesterfield Police continue to investigate the cause of a deadly car crash just before 3 Saturday morning.

It happened in the 9700 block of West Providence Road near Adkins Road.

Police say the driver ran off the right side of the road, lost control, hitting several mailboxes before flipping the vehicle.

Police tell us that a 17-year-old male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was already dead when officers arrived.

The man died at the scene. His identity has not been released.
