Release from the Hopewell Police Department:
[Hopewell, VA] – On January 02, 2012 at approximately 8:30pm, officers responded to the 600 block of E. Broadway St. for shots fired. Upon arrival, uniformed personnel located an unresponsive adult male with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Emergency medical personnel were subsequently dispatched to the scene and determined the subject was deceased. Members of the Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) responded to the scene and initiated an investigation of the matter. The decedent, identified as Mr. Emil M. Crenshaw, age 24, of the 600 block of E. Broadway St. (Hopewell, VA), has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy to determine cause of death.
