UPDATE: RICHMOND POLICE PRESS RELEASE, SUN 1-08-12
The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred last night. At approximately 8:47 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Woodhaven Drive and discovered a male lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he later died.
The victim has been identified as De'Shawn L. Mayo, 21, of the 1400 block of West Leigh Street. Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.

RICHMOND - A Richmond man has died after being shot several times in a Southside neighborhood.
Family tells us the victim is 21-year-old Deshawn Mayo.
Police were called to the 600 block of Woodhaven drive just before 9 p.m. and found Mayo lying in a driveway, suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to VCU Medical Center where he later died.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene to look for the shooter but the search continues for the suspect.
