CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) - State and local authorities are investigating improperly installed whole-home generators that could put dozens of homeowners at risk of electrocution or explosion.
Media outlets report that several companies owned by Stephen P. Mills and Angela K. Mills installed the generators in more than a dozen localities, including Richmond, Hopewell and the counties of New Kent, Henrico and Goochland.
Chesterfield County obtained a court injunction Friday temporarily shutting down the businesses. The Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation also is investigating.
Stephen Mills says in a statement that the companies are cooperating with authorities. He says all the work that was done was consistent with statewide codes and regulations.
