Louisa, Spotsy Quake Recovery Centers To Close Feb. 11

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (AP) - State and federal officials are preparing to close two disaster recovery centers set up after an August earthquake, but officials say assistance will continue to be available.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management say recovery centers in Louisa and Spotsylvania counties will close Feb. 11. The centers were set up after a magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck on Aug. 23.

One-on-one assistance will remain available. Those needing help will be able to speak with disaster specialists to register and to check the status of their application for aide by calling the toll-free registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA or visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov.

The deadline to register for assistance is March 5.
