Students at Community High School in Richmond staged a sit-in Tuesday morning in protest of proposed budget cuts to Richmond Public Schools.
A number of students gathered in the auditorium refusing to go to class as part of the protest. The student-organized group is calling their cause "Students for Students."
One student told 8News the sit-in is just a jump-off event for a campaign against proposed budget cuts.
Richmond Schools is facing a $24 million budget shortfall. Proposals call for loss of teacher jobs, larger class sizes and furloughs.
