HENRICO COUNTY - A 19 year old accused of killing his ex-girlfriend has been hospitalized after his arrest in Henrico County Tuesday night.
8News has learned that Alvin Rashawn Marshall was taken to the hospital after police took him into custody, but police would not go into detail on his medical condition.
Police believe Marshall shot and killed Tiffany Green, 21, after an argument early Tuesday morning. He was arrested late that night.
According to investigators, Marshall and Green went out Monday night, but began fighting when they returned to her apartment on Newbridge Road. Shots were fired, and officers found Green dead on her bed, shot multiple times.
The pair used to date, but had a history of problems, according to investigators.
"This has been going on for a while," said Lt. Mark Banks with the Henrico Police Department. "We've taken reports here at this address as far as threatening comments, threatening gestures, things along that line."
8News obtained copies of two emergency protective orders Green recently took out against Marshall. The most recent expired on February 27.
In the documents, Green claimed her ex-boyfriend had flattened her tires and been physically violent toward her, saying "He came to my job and hit me in front of customers... Alvin came in my job and started choking me with both hands." The second order states, "I really fear for my life."
Green also accused Marshall of making threatening calls and sending threatening text messages. He had been out on bond for charges of assault and battery, writing threats, and annoying ringing, stemming from an incident between him and Green last month.
Marshall and Green have a young daughter, who was inside the apartment at the time at the time of the shooting.
"I would see her and her kids coming home," a neighbor, Berniece Thornton, told 8News. "She was a very quiet lady, very quiet, but polite. She seemed to be a good mother."
