Tuition at VCU is going up for the 2012-2013 school year.
For in-state undergraduate students, tuition will go up by 3.87 percent to $9,885, not including housing and meal plan. For out of state students, annual tuition and fees is going up by 4.2 percent to $23,912.
The boost in tuition and fee costs comes as the Board of Visitors approves a $920 million operating budget for the 2012-2013 school year.
Tuition is also rising for students seeking advanced degrees. For in-state master's students, tuition is going up by nearly four percent.
"We are grateful that the governor and General Assembly this year have made higher education a priority," said VCU president Michael Rao. "VCU's budget is austere, but with movement toward restoration in state support, the university is able to move forward."
