The North Anna nuclear facility is facing increased government oversight after a reported violation concerning the plant's emergency generators.

The Dominion-owned plant was found in violation by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. According to a news release, North Anna personnel did not establish or maintain appropriate maintenance procedures for the diesel generators.

The NRC release said the violation had low to moderate safety significance, and stemmed from the failure of one of the facility's four generators after the August 2011 earthquake.

The NRC release said Dominion has made revisions to maintenance procedures since the violation.

The plant will now be subject to an increased number of inspections by regulators.
