Motorcyclist Leads Police On Chase

A City of Richmond man was charged by state police with reckless driving and failure to have a motorcycle endorsement on his drivers license following a two vehicle crash on Interstate 95 northbound south of the 77 mile marker in the City of Richmond.

At approximately 4:20 p.m. this afternoon, Zachary T. Carlson-Morrison, was operating a 1994 Honda motorcycle as he was attempting to flee from a Henrico County Police Sergeant. As Morrison continued to elude the Sergeant, Morrison struck the rear of a 2002 Ford Explorer. The impact caused Morrison to be ejected off of the motorcycle into the roadway.
Morrison, who was wearing a safety helmet, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center.
The 28 year-old male driver of the Ford was not injured in the crash.
The left lane of Interstate 95 northbound was closed for approximately one hour to allow for the crash investigation.
The crash was investigated by the Virginia State Police because the crash occurred in the city limits.
Honda Driver: Zachary T. Carlson-Morrison, 20, 1200 block of North 38th Street, Richmond, Va.
Ford Driver: 28 year-old male, Ellenwood, Ga.

Richmond, VA-- A police chase that took place on Interstate 95 Tuesday afternoon ended when the motorcyclist police were pursuing struck a car, and then crashed.

Police say the 20-year-old motorcyclist led Henrico police on chase on northbound I-95, before striking a car and crashing just before Bellevue Avenue. The motorcyclist was taken to VCU Medical Center with minor injuries. Police have not determined why the motorcyclist fled from police, but an investigation is currently being conducted.
