Berlin, Germany—A
man accused of filming a person being killed and sending the victim's mutilated
body parts to Canadian political officials last week has
been arrested without incident, reports the Associated Press.
The
man, 29-year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta, worked as a pornography film actor before
the incident, and was dating the man he allegedly murdered in an online video.
Police say the video shows a man they believe to be Magnotta repeatedly
stabbing another man with an ice pick, before performing sexual acts with the dismembered
corpse. Police believe the victim in the video is 33-year-old Jun Lin, a
Chinese university student Magnotta previously dated.
Magnotta
was apprehended at a Berlin
café, after being identified by an employee there. Magnotta is currently being
held and questioned, while waiting for his international arrest warrant to be
read to him by a judge. While it could take several days for Manotta to be extradited
to Canada,
police say he could be returned by week's end. Magnotta will face a first-degree murder charge, among others.
