UPDATE: Police ID Victims In Fatal Laburnum Accident

HENRICO, VA—Police identified the two people killed during a wreck Monday evening that injured three others.

Clarence R. Wimbush, 85, of Sandston, VA and Reina S. Opperman, 32, of Henrico, VA were killed Monday during the wreck, police said Tuesday.

Three others, including an infant, were taken to VCU Medical Center for their injuries, according to police.

The infant, a 1-year-old male, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police. Authorities said two adult females suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck happened on N. Laburnum Ave. near the entrance of the Seven Gables Apartment complex around 5:20 p.m., according to police.

Two vehicles, a Mercedes and a Chevy Cavalier, were involved in the wreck, according to police.

Police called the wreck "very significant." The cause of the wreck has not been released.

Crews spent around four hours clearing the scene, and drivers were advised to avoid the area of Laburnum Ave. between Creighton Rd. and Nine Mile Rd.

The intersection of Laburnum Ave. and Creighton Rd. was closed temporarily to southbound traffic.

Henrico Police are askign for the public's assistance with information about the accident. Witnesses and those with information about the accident are asked to call Henrico Police at (804) 501-5000.
