Drinking Coffee May Reduce Risk Of Heart Failure

Posted: Updated:

DALLAS- A new study shows drinking your cup of joe may reduce your risk of developing heart failure.

The American Heart Association said drinking two 8-ounce cups of coffee per day gave people an 11-percent lower risk of developing heart failure than those who didn't drink coffee.

The study's authors said they believed the health benefit was linked to coffee reducing one's risk of diabetes, which in turn lowers the risk for heart failure.

Drinking four cups a day seemed to weaken the protection, and drinking five or more cups a day could harm you, according to the study's authors.
