● Powhatan County Fairgrounds, 4042 Anderson Highway
Shelters will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the following locations:
● Southside Community Services Center, 4100 Hull Street Rd.
● Department of Social Services, 900 East Marshall St.
The City of Petersburg is also opening a Cooling Station on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m to 7 p.m. at the following location:
● The Petersburg Station (Multi-Modal Center) located at 100 West Washington St.
The Petersburg Station has seating areas, televisions, Wifi service and vending machines.
Louisa County will open a cooling shelter on Saturday Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following location:
●Betty Queen Intergenerational Center located at 522 Industrial Drive in Louisa
Hanover County is opening four cooling stations Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:
● East Hanover Fire Station #3., 4428 Mechanicville Turnpike
● Hanover Fire Station #5, 13326 Hanover Courthouse Rd.
● Montpellier Fire Station #8, 18681 Mountain Rd.
Rockville Station #9, 1145 Rockville Rd.
Shelters will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:
● Southside Community Services Center, 4100 Hull Street Rd.
● Department of Social Services, 900 East Marshall St.
● East District Center, 701 North 25th St.
Chesterfield County's Chester, Meadowdale and La Prade library branches will have extended hours Saturday until 9 p.m. and will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. to provide a cool and relaxing environment to escape the prevailing heat wave in the region.
