CONFIRMED: Tornado Touched Down In Mechanicsville June 30

Hanover, VA — The National Weather Service in Wakefield has confirmed that a tornado was on the ground for nearly ten minutes in Hanover County Saturday evening, with winds in the 80 mile per hour range.

The tornado has been rated "EF-0," which is the weakest tornado category, reserved for storms with winds of 65-85 miles per hour. The NWS says it touched down near Williamsville Acres Lane around 8:11 PM Saturday, and twisted along a 7.4-mile path toward Studley before lifting near Crown Hill Road around 8:20 PM.

Trees were knocked over and the storm caused some minor structural damage, but no injuries are reported from this tornado.
